Bark Chippings Area Calculator

Unsure how much bark you need for your project?

Here at Online Bark we are often asked how much bark is required to cover an area. To help our customers we have built the first bark calculator so you can work out exactly how much you need for your project.

Normally bark is laid at least 2 inches (5 cm) thick to suppress the growth of weeds and 6-8 inches deep in play areas (15-20 cm). The more you put down generally speaking the longer it will last before it needs to be replaced.

Bark calculations are based on volume not weight (gravels and soils are often worked out based in weight). Typically speaking a bulk bag (1000 litres) of bark will weigh around 300kg.
